We are very excited to announce a new collaboration with DataKind.
DataKind is a volunteer organisation that helps social change organisations to benefit from the data revolution. They bring together data science enthusiasts to collaborate on social impact projects involving data analytics and tech.
We had earlier collaborated on a day long data jam in May with DataKind looking at data related to elections especially. Many interesting analysis were done and the participants enjoyed exploring governance related data.
DataKind Bengaluru chapter is now organising their annual Sprint event: a set of events to do #DataforGood to create small projects/prototypes that can help achieve partner goals and do our part in trying to improve our society.
Oorvani Foundation is one of the selected partners, and the volunteers are going to be working for the OpenCity initiative in analysing data sets that reflect our cities.
The group will explore how liveable our neighbourhoods are. What are the data points that reflect our decision on where to live. It could be based on where the most schools are, or based on the best shopping and nightlife or other parameters. If you already have a house, how best can you demand better amenities based on data.
