We published a series of articles that highlighted climate change and environmental sustainability issues in tier 2 towns like Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Shimla, Varanasi and Rishikesh. The stories largely reflected the dim picture that various studies and statistics painted. All citing the same causes—unplanned urbanisation, uncontrolled emissions from different sources and poor waste and water management: Series: Environment and climate change in Tier II cities
We organised a round table with journalists, writers, environment experts and citizens from these Tier 2 towns discussing these cities’ sustainability challenges and progress. The interaction brought out root causes, citizen experiences, expert observations, possible solutions and local level initiatives that citizens can lead and participate in.
