Shobana’s four-part series on how unplanned state-led evictions propel domestic violence in resettlement areas of Chennai, has been selected for a Jury Appreciation Citation in the Web – News Series category for English language by the jury of the 15th Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2025.
The jury also acknowledged Ms. Sahana Charan, Editor of Citizen Matters, for encouraging and supporting gender-sensitive journalism.
She was appreciated for the deep sensitivity and insight reflected in her work. The series stood out for its nuanced engagement with gender concerns and for widening the space for more inclusive media narratives.
Thsi series was also previously nominated for the Kamla Mankekar award.
