The Hoot, in collaboration with Data Meet and Oorvani Foundation, is organising a two day workshop in Bangalore on tools and resources for data journalism on November 28th and 29th.
Data journalism workshop for working journalists
The goal of this workshop is to give a strong introduction to data journalism, that will allow journalists to use data effectively in their storytelling. Participants will be taken through tools and resources and offering a support network for future endeavors. Participants will be grouped by data skill level. There is an application process in order to make sure people of similar interests and skill level are grouped together, so that people can get the most out of the two days.

Intro To Data Journalism: This will cover general background, global perspectives, and basic data terminology.
Data Familiarity session: This session we will discuss how comfortable people are with data and what their idea of data is.
Story Deep Dives: This section is when we will look at how to make roadmaps for stories. You will have to come prepared with your stories and ideas so we can go over how we would proceed from a data angle, from conception to the output.
Roadmap Session: After we understand what the story is we will be building roadmaps on how to move the data through the story telling frame.
