Mumbai was slated to go into municipal elections on January 15th 2026 after a long hiatus. In preparation for the elections, Blue Ribbon Movement conducted an event ‘We vote WISE’ to inform the audience of what the municipal elections mean, the structure, how one should choose leaders and more, on 10th January 2026.

Oorvani Foundation contributed as the knowledge partner for the event, with our voting guide handed over to the participants to serve as a handbook for the upcoming municipal elections and something that they could use during the event to envision their own expectations from the city’s local governing body.
The event had 50 participants and were divided into groups and given topics based on which they were to come up with manifestos that Mumbai’s local governance should focus on. A detailed report of the event and the teams’ top requests can be viewed here. The aim of this was for people to envision what good governance means for them and where the gaps are when parties release their manifesto. It also made them reflect on what they should demand for, from elected leaders.
Events like these bring citizens closer to governance and make people take informed decisions while voting.
