Oorvani Foundation generates content for publishing using teams of staff journalists, freelancers, subject matter experts, practitioners, filmmakers, audio producers and editors, and organisational partners. The reports and analysis are published in the Citizen Matters and India Together newsmagazines.
Citizen Matters is a city-focused, online and mobile citizen-oriented newsmagazine, covering city public affairs, community and culture. We publish pioneering journalism from professional reporters and community contributors and are a platform for citizen engagement.
India Together is a national public affairs e-magazine, covering Indian development in a deep-diving analytical format, with a progressive lens. India Together is also India’s only voluntarily reader-funded publication. IT and IT authors have won several awards.
OpenCity.in is an Urban Data Portal – a collaboration between Oorvani Foundation and DataMeet. It also contains a repository of city-related public data from government sources, via RTI or open data processes.
Co Media Lab, the community media lab is a joint initiative of Citizen Matters (supported by Oorvani Foundation) and Radio Active (licensed to Jain University). It serves as a newsroom and resource centre for student journalists and citizen contributors. It will explore convergence of media across genre – digital stories, podcasts, radio episodes, video explainers, performances, photography, face to face conversation and discussion.
The lab also encourages, supports, and trains community journalists/producers, organising regular workshops on city issues, citizen journalism, media production, problem solving etc. In addition, it will support young journalists – providing student internships/training for a live newsroom experience.
